Guide to Las Vegas

Las Vegas is generally considered to be one of the most exciting cities in the world. Really, what else would it be? Certainly not the most beautiful — neon lights in the desert are not especially appealing. And culture? Frankly, there is none.

But what Sin City does, it does very well — it entertains. It helps us forget about our problems if only for a night. It also achieves a once inconceivable feat by somehow making losing money fun. After all, most of the people who leave Las Vegas go home losers; and still they return. That says a lot about a city that is too hot, too crowded and too expensive for most people to afford.

Even so, Vegas remains the destination of choice for people who are planning special events like stag or hen parties or even spur of the moment wedding ceremonies. Do you know how many wedding chapels are in Las Vegas? Neither do we! But what we do know is that more than 150,000 wedding licences are issued in Vegas each year, which accounts for over 5 per cent of the US total. That is why in any guide to Sin City it is often referred to as the wedding capital of the world.

But there’s more to do in Vegas than just getting hitched, obviously. The city is a Mecca for many of the top entertainers in the world. There are also, obviously, numerous luxury hotels and casinos along the Vegas Strip. But if gambling is not your thing, there are quality restaurants and shows to attend any time of the day or night.

One little known fact about Las Vegas is that the surrounding areas have some of the best hiking trails in the state. You can either brave them yourself or take a guided tour. One word of warning; however, before you plan your trip — don’t stay for more than a weekend. Trust us… a weekend in Vegas is like a month anywhere else.
